The Mother and Child Health Support Center in District 17 of Kabul was officially inaugurated today during a grand ceremony attended by high-ranking government officials and representatives of the public health sector. The center was established with the full support of His Excellency Alhaj Mawlawi Saifuddin Taib, Deputy of the Administration of Emirate Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, and under the initiative of the Afghan Zamin Education and Development Assistance Organization (AFZENDA).
The ceremony began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran by Qari Noor Ahmad Amiri. Following this, Mr. Sayed Abdullah Hashimi, Director of AFZENDA, expressed his gratitude for the generous support of His Excellency Mawlawi Saifuddin Taib, Dr. Abdul Shafi Asim, Director of Public Health in Kabul, Mr. Sayed Rasool Mangal, Director General of Planning and Policy at the Ministry of Public Health, distinguished guests, and local representatives. He highlighted that the main objective of establishing this center is to provide high-quality health services to mothers and children in need.
The center has been established in full coordination with the Ministry of Public Health and the Public Health Directorate of Kabul. It offers services that go beyond typical health centers, including pre- and postnatal care, pediatric health services, psychological counseling, a fully equipped laboratory, a pharmacy, and vaccination programs. AFZENDA is committed to exerting every effort to serve the community without reservation.
Dr. Abdul Shafi Asim, Director of Public Health in Kabul, described the establishment of this center as an important step toward improving healthcare services in the city. He added that the center was established under a memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Public Health and AFZENDA, and that the recruitment of healthcare staff was conducted transparently by a committee from among qualified professionals. He expressed confidence that this specialized team will provide valuable services to the public.
Mawlawi Rafeeullah Jahan Zeb, speaking on behalf of the local community, expressed gratitude for the support and collaboration of His Excellency Mawlawi Saifuddin Taib and AFZENDA in establishing the health center and emphasized the need for continued cooperation to provide health services to the people.
In the closing remarks of the ceremony, His Excellency Alhaj Mawlawi Saifuddin Taib, Deputy of Coordination of Emirate Affairs at the Administration of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, stated:
“Since its inception, AFZENDA has provided commendable services in the educational, vocational, and social sectors. For the past year, we aimed to establish a standard health center in one of the underprivileged areas of Kabul. After surveying and evaluating potential locations, this area was selected, and through persistent efforts, we are witnessing the official inauguration of this center today. I extend my gratitude for the sincere cooperation of the Director General of Planning and Policy and the leadership of the Ministry of Public Health and the Kabul Public Health Directorate for their technical support. We will always fully support the people through effective programs.”
He also thanked the security officials of District 17 for their collaboration with AFZENDA and called upon all relevant agencies to maintain continuous support for the security of the health center and the organization’s activities.
The ceremony concluded with prayers led by Mawlawi Mohammad Amin, the preacher of the local Grand Mosque. Subsequently, senior officials officially unveiled the building of the Mother and Child Health Support Center, symbolizing its inauguration. They then toured the various sections of the center, including the information desk, emergency unit, gynecology and obstetrics, delivery room, pediatric department, pharmacy, and laboratory, becoming familiar with the facilities and capacities of the center.
This center, established to provide comprehensive health services to mothers and children in District 17 of Kabul, represents a major collaboration project between the public sector and non-governmental organizations. It is expected to provide effective and high-quality healthcare services to thousands of families annually.
